Orlando, Florida (October 10th, 2020) – After an amazing final event in Orlando and a season of incredible video lines, Wakeboarder Nic Rapa and Wakesurfer Sean Silveira have been crowned Champions of the 2020 Pro Wake Tour.

In a closely contested wakeboarding season Nic Rapa and Cory Teunissen battled the entire summer for the top spot on the podium in each event. Rapa took the first event and Teunissen took the 2nd and 3rd, leaving Rapa in a position coming into this final event with a must win situation in order to guarantee the season championship. At the same time Cory Teunissen needed to beat Rapa to hold on to his lead.

In the final event Rapa laid down a dominating run with huge double flips and massive spins to drop the highest score of the day with 96 points out of 100. Then it was Tyler Higham and Shota Tezuka who came up with big runs, clearly reminding everyone that they were there to win as well. Higham, Tezuka as well as Guenther Oka all layered in big technical moves with a touch of style to shake up the final event and the overall standings. With Higham placing 2nd and Tezuka 3rd they pushed Teunissen down to 4th and helped Rapa clinch the season overall win.

In addition to Rapa’s season championship, it is traditional to recognize the stand out rookie each year. Fynn Bullock has been a standout for the entire season and has knocked a number of big name veterans down the rankings with his signature snowboard style. Fynn has been named the 2020 PWT Rookie of the Year. In his first season on the Pro Tour he finished sixth in the final Wakeboard standings.

Bill McCaffray of Alliance Wake said, “I thought the video lines this year were amazing, but to see Nic, Tyler, Shota, Cory and Guenther ride just as well in this live event was simply incredible.”

Devin Tatro, Director of the Pro Wake Tour said, “The caliber of riding at this final live event was absolutely incredible and a great way to cap the season after 3 digital events.”

In wakesurfing, tour veteran Sean Silveira had his hand full this year with a young up and coming crew of skim shredders lead by Camron and Taylor Swanson as well as Tyler Stewart and Connor Burns.

Silveira needed to perform in the final event to hold off Camron Swanson from snatching the overall championship from him. Surprisingly it was Tyler Stewart that came to the final ready to lay it all down in the live event to  take the win in the final. Stewart was followed by Camron and Taylor Swanson respectively leaving Silveira in 4th. The silver lining for Silveira was that Stewart took the win over Camron and he was just able to hold onto the season points lead to be crowned the 2020 Pro Wakesurf Tour Champion.

If you missed the final event broadcast on CBS Sports Network this morning you will be able to watch the full show when it goes live on  the Pro Wake Tour’s YouTube channel in a week..
